Day 4, 8th September Tempelton’s Crossing to Efogi Village.

Tuesday. Started out at 6 am arrived in our camp at 5pm.  Today we walked to the Kokoda Gap then we climbed to the highest point on the track, Mt Bellamy at 2250 meters. Then down to 1900 Creek for morning tea and on to the Moss Forest past Kagi junction.

Stopped for lunch at Naduri Village.

Along the track Chad would give us updates on the Japanese advance and the Australian defensive tactics.

Much to the shock and surprise of the other team we ended up at the same camp site at Efogi Low. We were meant to stop at Efogi High but there was no fresh water there so we all agreed to push on. It was a hard day and we made very good progress.

Everybody’s spirits were high – we had reached the half way point.
