2019 Sydney New Zealand Sydney cruise

After having enjoyed our Baltic cruise in 2018 we decided to take the 14 day Majestic Princess cruise out from Sydney sailing around New Zealand, back to Sydney. And whilst we had a great trip you only scratch the surface of New Zealand. We will go back and travel by road.

We left Perth WA on Thursday the 31st of October and spent that night at the Holiday Inn Old Sydney Hotel in the Rocks in Sydney. From our hotel room we looked out onto the Ocean Terminal, and in the morning when we looked out of our window we could see the ship towering over the buildings.

We spent the day sightseeing around the Rocks and Circular Quay. The boarding was very easy and before too long we were sailing with the Harbour Bridge just right behind us and Sydney Opera House On the Right.

Sampling the beer before we set sail.

We spent the next 2 days at sea, very relaxing.

At the plaza on the way to dinner.
The room was very comfortable and it was great having a balcony.

Early in the morning what is actually the third day at sea we got up early as the ship sailed into Milford Sound. It was early quiet, and wonderful.

So quiet.

After spending some time at Milford Sound we had to miss out visiting 2 other Sounds, as we had to sail further out to sea to miss a storm. Whilst the day was cut short the swell was rising so no one complained about the Captains decision to head away from the storm.

Next and our first stop was on day 4 at Dunedin, or New Edinburgh. We arrived early in the morning. After breakfast we headed into town. The day was cold and wet, as it was most days, but then again we never came on the cruise for the weather. It was good to walk about the city after being at sea for the last 3 days. We visited some very interesting buildings.

Sailed through the night and next morning arrived at Akoroa. Had a look around then visited the Gallery. The gardens are full of hundreds of mosaics. After a drink we headed back on board.

The sculptures were fantastic.

Again it’s sailing through the night and arriving next morning at Wellington. At last the sun is out. We went into town and took the Cable Car up to the top of the hill. We walked back down passed the Bee Hive, Parliament building and into the Rose Garden.

Not sure I would have liked the trip in this car, especially if it was raining.
NZ’s Bee Hive Parliament.
The gardens were so peaceful.

Next day was a sea day.

Ready for dinner.

Early morning arrival atTauranga unfortunately it rained all day and the open air market was a disaster. Still the trip in and out on the tiller was fun, we met some really nice Americans.

On to Auckland. The rain was constant.

On to the Bay of Islands.

Flying high😃

Last 2 days are sailing days back to Sydney.
