2022 Cruise holiday part 8 London

With the cruise over we flew back from Rome to London and caught up with two friends for a few days, before the long flight back to Perth WA

After wandering around on this lovely warm 30th October, we stopped for a drink. I couldn’t believe the weather in London for this time of the year.
These are the Herd of Hope. 20 statues of baby elephants and their mother are scattered around the Spitalfields Markets representing the real life orphans elephant rescued by the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya.

Spitalfields area was originally established around 1638 it has been associated with the Silk industry from around 1685, when the Huguenots, French Protestants arrived. From the 1730s Irish weavers came to take up work in the silk trade after a decline in the Irish Linen industry.

Some photos walking around Spitalfields Market.
The inner parts of the market were quite busy but the edges were pleasantly empty.

Tommy waiting on Linda and Irene. Love the sign The English Restaurant, I don’t think I have ever seen that.
About half way through our flight home on Sunday 31st October. On the flight through to London it took 17 hours and 16 minutes. On the way back it was meant to be 16 hours and 15 minutes. It was just under 15 hours and 20 minutes.
Almost there. As usual Linda did not sleep at all. Unusually, I could not sleep and only had two or three very short naps.
Arrived back in Perth.
