I was born in Maryhill, Glasgow, Scotland and grew up in Maryhill, Provan Hall and Linwood. After leaving my last School, Linwood High. I started my electrical apprenticeship with James Kilpatrick in Paisley. After 2 years as a tradesperson I went to work at Yarrows Shipbuilders in Scotstoun on the Clydeside. At 25 years old with my wife Linda and daughter Laura I emigrated to Western Australia. During my time working on the tools as an electrician I worked on various major Commercial builds including the Casino and Central Park and Industrial projects such as Worsley, Karratha Gas Plant and the Argyle Diamond mines. I then worked for the Electrical Trades Union for 26 years and held various roles from Organiser to State President, National President and State Secretary for the last 12 years until I retired from the Union. Since leaving the Union I have engaged in a number of personal projects, mainly writing, studying and my favourite travelling.

2016 Rocky Mountaineer Train and Coach your.

As an overall opinion we both really loved the Rocky Mountaineer trip. The service on the train and the efficient handling of stopovers were great. But for most spectacular scenery I think the coach views were much better.

The comfort, food and services on the train part of the tour was excellent.
I am pretty sure this was our first stop at Kamloops.
The second half of the tour was by coach. Again the service was excellent. I have to admit the coach was far better for the sight seeing component of the tour.

2016 San Francisco

This is where the train used to stop for Alcatraz.
View of Alcatraz Prison from the mainland.
I really enjoyed listen to the audio as we walked around the island.
I alway want to walk across iconic bridges rather than just looking at them from the shore.
Before we started our walk Linda said she feels sure that it will be cold on the bridge Not at all I say😁

2015 in Canberra and Sydney with Linda, James and Jorja.

We had heard that the schools planned trip to Canberra was canceled so we decided to take them there during the October school holidays and return to Perth via Sydney.

In Canberra we visited and had tours around the old parliament and the new parliament then we spent a full day at the war memorial. In Sydney the usual tourist visits around the Rocks, Darling harbour, Manly and of course the Hard Rock Cafe.

The Rocks was saved by the local community and the BLF Unions Green Bans. Although the Union came under massive pressure they saved this iconic part of Sydney. There should be a statue to Jack Mundy for leading the fight to save the Rocks.

From the grass at the newParliament House looking down to the old Parliament House and the War Memorial.
