2011 Holiday part 3 Italy Rome, Amalfi Cost & Pompeii

We split our Italian holiday in two parts. In part 3 here, Rome, the Amalfi coast, and Pompeii.

Given we have been in Rome before it was a bit more relaxing.

Love going around the Colosseum
A great spot to view the Trevi fountain you can’t get as close as you used to we have photos sitting with our hands in the water and of course throwing a coin in the fountain.
The Pantheon was constructed around 126AD. It stands on the site of the older Pantheon built around 25BC. Originally a Pagan Temple for all the Roman Gods. A must visit Temple.
We went inside Castle Saint Angelo and from up in the top you look down to Saint Peter’s There are many fantastic statues on the bridge and throughout the castle.
The water fountain still works, not sure about the quality of the drinking water, but you can use it to cool you down.
We were in the first of three mini vans both Linda and I sitting up front with the driver. A far better way to experience the trip than in a big bus as our drivers cruised around the winding road. Beautiful trip.
Amalfi Cathedral “ Duomo do Amalfi” where the Apostle Saint Andrews relics are kept.
Having a very strong lemonchelo in at the Piazza del Duomo Amalfi Cathedral in Costiera Amalfitana
A short cruise from Costiera Amalfitana to Positano.
From the main square looking out to Mount Vesuvius. The dip in the middle of the mountain is where the peak had been at its highest before the eruption in 79AD.
Linda is standing in the serving area of a restaurant/bar outside one of the many, how should I put it, entertainment areas.
The picture on the wall are original depictions of the services provided in this establishment.

  1. Great photos Les.
Your tech knowledge, time and enthusiasm in putting all this together is to be commended, it’s an amazing achievement for you and a wonderful log of your holidays to give to your family, well done.👏🏻
We haven’t forgotten you, but honestly all our time is taken caring for Mum these days, she can’t be left alone as her short term memory is completely gone … very tiring caring for her.
Anyway, we are ok …. hope the same with yourself and Linda.
    Take care
    Desi & John xx

    1. Hi John,
It can be time consuming but I am enjoying logging my holidays, and writing, I am about halfway through my third book. The publishing has been a real learning curve.
Sorry to hear that most of your time is caring for Desi mum.
Hopefully we will all be able to catch up. If you just want to catch up for a beer just give me a call.
You and a Desi take care and soon we will all have a great catch up.
      Les and Linda
